Barcelona

I’ve lived in Barcelona for a while now and I have compiled a list of my favorite places. Some are notorious, others are not. This is my genuine list of go tos.

Fancy

  1. Disfrutar: I am biased. The chefs are dear friends but the food never disappoints. Treat the experience like going to a museum or an event. Spend the afternoon or evening savoring their creations and experiencing new ways of eating food.

  2. Tickets: Literally like being in Ferran’s head. It is a dinner with a show. Let yourself be surprised by the magic behind their cooking.

Spanish

  1. Casa Mari y Rufo: Fish and meat. Rustic, family owned, delicious. Make a reservation. Weekdays only.

  2. Paco Meralgo: Fancy tapas. Central, good vibe. Make a reservation.

  3. La Pepita: Fun vibe and great tapas. Walk-ins only.

  4. Cerveceria Catalana: Solid tapas place but it is always full. Walk-ins only. Hound a seat at the bar and you will not be disappointed. Also, open all day so great for out of the ordinary dining hours.

  5. El Tiet Taver-Teca: Casual, tasty and full of character.

  6. Lokal: Casual, inexpensive place to share meat together. You will smell like a BBQ afterward but worth it.

Japanese

  1. Ekubo: Small, delicate and high quality sushi. A little trip to Japan.

  2. Koku: Never thought eating ramen in a basement would be so good. Casual and cool.

  3. Majide: High quality sushi.

Korean

  1. Pocha: Just go.

Drinks

  1. La Graciosa: A wine bar with hidden interior courtyard. Good luck snagging a table!

  2. El Nacional: Great for having a drink near Placa Catalunya.
